PARKERSBURG — Brad Ritchie, a special education teacher and assistant instructor of band at Parkersburg High School, was arraigned Friday in Wood County Magistrate Court on a charge of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person of trust.
Ritchie, 47, of 3011 10th Ave., Vienna, was arraigned Friday night by Magistrate Robin Waters and was being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a $150,000 surety bond.
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged victim, a male juvenile, was a student of Ritchie’s.
Wood County Schools Superintendent Will Hosaflook said Friday that Ritchie has been on administrative leave since mid-January.
“Since then the Wood County Board of Education and Parkersburg Police Department have been actively involved investigating the complaint,” Hosaflook said.
Hosaflook said the school system will let the legal process work and take action accordingly.
