Parkersburg man faces charges in two separate investigations
Christopher Allen Dooley
PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg man was charged Wednesday in two separate investigations of sexual offenses.
Christopher Allen Dooley, 23, was arrested on counts of kidnapping, sexual assault in the second degree and soliciting a minor via computer after allegedly going to meet a person with whom he’d been communicating online, according to Parkersburg Police Capt. R.L. Koher.
The suspect believed he was messaging a minor, Koher said. It turned out the person on the other end of the messages was a Parkersburg Police detective.
The kidnapping and sexual assault charges stem from November 2021, although the victim only recently came forward, Koher said. That case was being investigated by a different detective, independent of the alleged solicitation.
Dooley was arraigned Wednesday in Wood County Magistrate Court. The bond amount on the sexual assault and soliciting charges was not immediately available Wednesday, but Koher noted the bond for the kidnapping count would have to be set in Wood County Circuit Court.
Dooley was taken to the Wood County Holding Center.
