Coplin Health Systems awarded $1.5 million in grant funding for new Parkersburg site

PARKERSBURG – Coplin Health Systems was awarded about $1.5 million in Senate appropriations for the construction of a new service center located on Camden Avenue, according to a release from Coplin.

The funding will support the project which will address a variety of needs within the area like accessibility, timely services, provider shortages, and stronger healthcare resources.

The new site will replace the current Coplin Health Systems site at 2610 Camden Ave. due to the increase in patient demand and limited space at the current location.

“This project was designed around what the Parkersburg community deserves, so great care was taken to ensure the layout allowed for a patient-first experience while also expanding the services available in this area,” said Coplin Senior Projects Manager Ashley Blanc.

The new project, which is expected to be completed in 2028, will expand on the existing care provided by Coplin.

The new layout will focus on creating a “seamless, coordinated experience for every patient,” who goes to the clinic, according to the release. A second building, in addition to the main clinic, will focus on community engagement, support groups, health education programs, activities and more.

“Together, the two buildings will create a space to support long-term wellness, preventive care, and meaningful community connections,” said Blanc. “And importantly, the expanded footprint will help reduce wait times so patients can receive care when they need it.”

Services will include; primary care, same-day care, pharmacy services, behavioral health, diabetes programs, substance abuse care, occupational health, pediatric care, on-site lab services, women’s health, youth immunizations and more.

“We want to thank Senator Shelley Moore Capito and Senator Jim Justice for their continued dedication to improving healthcare access for the people we serve,” said Coplin Health Systems President and CEO Rob Dudley. “Their support helps bring this vision to life, and we look forward to opening a facility that truly reflects the future of care and the future at Coplin Health Systems.”

According to the release, Coplin planned to break ground early 2027 and complete the project during their 50th anniversary in 2028.

Coplin was established in 1978 and originally known as the Wirt County Health Services Association. There are currently 11 service centers, an administrative center, and two mobile health units across Wirt, Jackson, Wood, and Meigs County.
