Wood County Schools mask lawsuit dismissed

PARKERSBURG — A lawsuit filed by two parents over Wood County Schools’ COVID-19 masking requirement was dismissed last month because the policy is no longer in effect. “The children in Wood County Schools no longer are required or mandated to wear face coverings,” Wood County Circuit Court Judge J.D. West Virginia reports slight increase in active COVID cases

CHARLESTON — Statewide active cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus slightly rose from Thursday to Friday, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Also, no deaths were reported in the 24-hour period between Thursday and Friday morning. The toll since the pandemic began remains at 7,487 confirmed COVID-related deaths in West Virginia. CHARLESTON — Another eight people have died from the COVID-19 coronavirus including a 45-year-old man, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Thursday said. The deaths also include a 100-year-old man from Harrison County, the department said. Active COVID cases remain below 1,000 in West Virginia

CHARLESTON — Statewide active cases remained below 1,000 in West Virginia on Wednesday, the Department of Health and Human Resources reported. Cases totaled 912 across the state while 310 new positive cases were received in the 24-hour period between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Wednesday’s case count was 36 more than Tuesday’s count. Forty-six of the 55 counties in the state are classified green, the lowest level on the County Alert System Map based on infection rates. Staff Report CHARLESTON — Another three people in West Virginia have died from the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Department of Health and Human Resources said on Tuesday. The department in its Tuesday morning pandemic report confirmed the deaths of an 87-year-old woman from Wyoming County, a 76-year-old man from McDowell County and a 94-year-old woman from Kanawha County. Two Wood County residents among latest West Virginia COVID deaths

CHARLESTON — The deaths of two Wood County residents were attributed to COVID-19 in Monday’s virus update from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Two men, ages 83 and 78, were among six deaths reported since Friday. The others were a 73-year-old Kanawha County woman, an 84-year-old Pendleton County man, a 65-year-old Greenbrier County woman and a 79-year-old Boone County woman.
