West Virginia Interstate Fair & Exposition ready to entertain throughout week

PARKERSBURG — The 51st annual West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition will begin tomorrow with gates opening at 4 p.m. All exhibit registration was held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the fair’s website, opening day is “Senior Citizens’ Day” and will feature events like bingo and karaoke at 4 p.m. The fair’s website also notes that the first 100 people aged 60 and over will win free admission to the fair tomorrow only until close. The website also said soup beans and cornbread will be provided to seniors. According to the website, the carnival closes at 10 p.m. and the fair closes at 11 p.m.

The fair website said Wednesday is “Kid’s Day” and will feature carnival games and a bounce house. The gates open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and the carnival opens at 5 p.m. There will also be an ATV/UTV Mud Bog and ATV/UTV Rodeo at 7 p.m. This event will take place in the track area of the fairgrounds.

The website said Thursday is “Armed Services Day” and notes that all military personnel will gain free admittance as long as they show an Active Duty or Active Reserve Duty Military ID. Thursday will also feature a Mud Bog and Speed pit at 7 p.m.

On Friday, the fair will feature a variety of events, from a watermelon eating contest and a hay bale throw to ATV Drag Racing. These events will be in addition to the fair’s daily activities like the carnival, Phil’s Future Farmers event and fair food and vendors.

On Saturday, the gates open at noon but will still close at 11 p.m. Before the gates open, there will be antique and garden tractor pulls at 9 a.m.

There will also be a kids pedal tractor pull on Saturday at 2 p.m. along with a spitting contest and stone throw. There will be a truck and tractor pull at 5 p.m. at the track area at the fairgrounds.
