DAVISVILLE – A person was shot and died after a dispute inside a River Road residence Friday evening, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department announced.

Sheriff Rick Woodyard said the incident is under investigation and the individual’s name is not being released at this time.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, an “identified person” entered 1655 River Road in Davisville and an altercation took place. The person who entered reportedly struggled with two residents of the home before one of them retrieved a weapon.

“The identified person was shot and has been declared deceased,” the post said.

Woodyard said Saturday that no one else was injured and no charges have been filed at this time. There will be a “complete and thorough investigation into the matter,” he said.

“We probably will not release anything in the near future, until our investigation is completed,” Woodyard said.
