Claytor challenging McCuskey for State Auditor
Republican incumbent John McCuskey is challenged by Democrat Mary Ann Claytor for West Virginia State Auditor.
McCuskey is a husband, father and a West Virginia native. Before becoming serving auditor, McCuskey was in the House of Delegates in the 35th District in Charleston from 2012 to 2016.
If re-elected, McCuskey pledges to continue to be a taxpayer watchdog for citizens and the state, continue to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in state government and put the interest of taxpayers first.
Clayton has been an auditor for the state for several years and knows the ins and outs of how the office works and some of the present problems.
She hopes to use that experience to modernize the auditor’s office and bring costs down.
In her experience, she has provided training to local government employees and has performed audits for the state auditor’s office.
“Mary Ann’s loyalty lies with the people of West Virginia, not special interests or political parties,” her website said.
