CHARLESTON — Six more deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus were confirmed Thursday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. CHARLESTON — Another nine people were confirmed Wednesday as deaths caused by COVID-19 in West Virginia, the Division of Health and Human Resources reported. The death count since the pandemic started was 7,115 residents, although state health officers believe the number of deaths and the number of infections of the virus may be under-reported. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert delayed to November

MARIETTA — This evening’s performance by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at the Peoples Bank Theatre in Marietta has been postponed to November, the theater said. Members of the band have contracted COVID-19, the theater said. The new date is 8 p.m. Nov. 17. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new show date. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was formed in the mid 1960s. Its biggest hit was “Mister Bojangles.”

West Virginia reports no new COVID deaths, active cases below 3K

CHARLESTON — No deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus were reported Monday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The death count since the virus began more than two years ago was at 7,102 on Monday. The department reported 2,859 active cases statewide, but 2,024 new cases of the virus had been received since the last pandemic update on Friday. Active cases on Friday were 3,002. CDC recommends indoor masks in many Mid-Ohio Valley counties

PARKERSBURG — Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend wearing masks indoors throughout much of the Mid-Ohio Valley as COVID-19 cases increase. Based on the number of new cases per 100,000 people in the preceding seven days and the number of new COVID hospital admissions and percentage of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID patients, whichever is higher, the community levels are updated weekly by Thursday evenings.
