MARIETTA — The British are coming!

To commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Midnight Ride, the historic moment was recreated Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Muskingum Park in Marietta.

The reenactment featured The Castle Museum historian Scott Britton as he described the events of the Midnight Ride and the connection it has to Marietta.

Three riders on horseback included Paul Revere, William Dawes and Samuel Prescott as they rode through the park to recreate that night on April 18, 1775.

The event was free for the public to attend and everyone was requested to put two lights in the windows of their houses and businesses. The two lights were a representation of the lights hung inside the Old North Church as a way to notify the patriots of British travel routes.
