PARKERSBURG — “Hee Haw” featuring local performers and celebrities returns to the stage at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg for three shows opening at 7 p.m. today.
After a successful debut last year, “Hee Haw” will again feature the instrumental and vocal talents of many local musicians with the comedic antics of several Guild members and other special guests, Sherry Wilson Braid, a singer and fundraising chairman for the Guild.
In addition to today’s opening show, performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $20 and are available at the Guild website, https://www.actors-guild.com/buy-tickets.html. Popcorn, homemade cookies, water, beer, and wine will be sold in the lobby during the shows.
Performers will include Roy Clark Jr., the son of Roy Clark, who starred in the original “Hee Haw” that aired from 1969 to 1997. Clark Jr. will return for a second year.

“We’re so excited that Roy Clark Jr. will once again perform on both guitar and mandolin,” Braid said.
Clark Jr. will present his father’s skit, “Empty Arms Hotel.”
“Roy’s sons, Caleb and Josiah Clark, will join him on the great bluegrass instrumental ‘Down Yonder,'” Braid said.
Music will include well-known country classics by Greg Strauss as Buck Owens, Braid as Patsy Cline, Reinnie Leavitt as Loretta Lynn, Dave Roberts as Johnny Cash and Tim Wilson as Conway Twitty.
“All of these performers are just great, but I think folks will particularly enjoy Tim’s renditions of ‘Goodbye Time,’ ‘Hello Darlin” and ‘You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly,'” Braid said. “His interpretation of Conway’s songs is just spot-on. I enjoy it, but cry a little every time I hear him sing these moving country ballads about lost love.”
Braid said she’s also pleased Strauss is returning to the Guild stage.
“He worked on many shows in the 1990s and 2000s, both as a music director and actor. He’s an excellent musician, and I’m thankful to have him in the band,” Braid said.
Skits made famous on the TV “Hee Haw” will feature local celebrities Kiki Angelos, president of the West Virginia Symphony League, and Pam Creel, owner of Wine Down on Market. They will be joined by Wilson, Leavitt and Roberts on Hee Haw’s famous songs “Pfft! You Were Gone” and “Gloom, Despair and Agony on Me.”
Eliana and Mia Higgins, nationally competitive cloggers, will be making their “Hee Haw” debut. They will clog to “Leather N Lace” and “are cute as can be,” Braid said.
Members of the “Hee Haw” band include Debbie DeWees on piano, Rebecca Traugh on fiddle, Dan Murray on banjo, Mark Hartshorn on lead guitar and Strauss on bass.
In addition to Braid, other fundraising committee members who have organized the event include Betty Dotson, David Rexroad and Charlie Matthews. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Guild.
