PARKERSBURG -- Winners have been announced in the Take Me Home Art Show for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade held by the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Foundation.
The show was curated by Emma Romanowski, a member of the foundation and a recipient of the West Virginia Art Education Association Educator of the Year award.
The exhibition celebrated the creativity of emerging student artists from across the state, showcasing original works in painting, photography, ceramics, metal, wood, drawing, crafts, and textiles.
Romanowski cited the level of talent and thought represented in this year's entries.
"The Take Me Home Art Show gives young artists a professional platform to share their work and recognize that art is both a reflection and a connector of community," she said. "It's inspiring to see so many students exploring their voices through creativity."
The show featured submissions from students representing schools from across the state. Awards were presented across multiple categories with Emily Williams of Parkersburg High School receiving Best in Show for her whimsical piece titled "oh, that's where my hat went." The piece is a bear wearing a West Virginia University cap.
"The Take Me Home Art Show highlights how art education builds confidence, critical thinking, and community connection," said Olivia Reeder, vice president for Institutional Advancement at WVU Parkersburg and president of the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation. "We are proud to showcase the next generation of West Virginia artists through this annual exhibition."
