MARIETTA – The Marietta Police Department has released the name of the suspect in the Dec. 2 robbery of the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Greene Street.

The department had confirmed earlier this month that a suspect had been arrested in northern Ohio by another agency but had declined to name him until he was charged in Marietta.

Arthur Lee Worthy II, 20, of Columbus, was arrested on Dec. 7 after being pulled over by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Ashland County.

Glenn Norosky, the Marietta pharmacist injured in the robbery, said Monday that he’s relieved the suspect was found, and that he’s back to work and doing better.

“I’m back to about 99 percent,” he said. “It happened so fast, about 25 seconds and I was on the ground. I really don’t remember much from the incident…Hopefully he will be in lockup for a long time.”

Worthy still has not been charged in Marietta.

According to wkbn.com, Worthy and Mohammed Jabril, 18, of Reynoldsburg, were pulled over for speeding in a rented 2018 Ford Escape on Dec. 7. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana. A probable cause search allowed authorities to enter the vehicle and allegedly find 1,899 grams of oxycodone/hydrochloride pills and marijuana valued at $20,000.

Capt. Aaron Nedeff of the MPD said he believes Worthy is the person they department has been looking for.

“We don’t have any doubt that this is the guy,” he said.

Nedeff said the department has sent in material for testing that should easily confirm or deny Worthy’s participation in the robbery.

“We’ve sent in samples for DNA testing,” Nedeff said. “Hopefully we will get a positive hit and wrap this case up.”

Nedeff said they were waiting for an investigation by the DEA into other alleged illegal activities by Worthy to come to a close before releasing his name. He had previously said the suspect was being investigated for armed robberies in multiple states.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Dec. 2, Worthy allegedly entered the Rite Aid on Greene Street, went to the pharmacy counter and told Norosky at gunpoint to open the safe and give him the money. When Norosky informed Worthy there wasn’t a safe behind the counter, Worthy allegedly jumped the counter and pistol whipped Norosky, causing injuries severe enough for him to be hospitalized. Worthy then proceeded to the cashier at the front and took the money from the register before fleeing the scene in a car.
