MOV Parent: Teach your children to keep safety in mind
(MOV Parent - Graphic Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)
The Mid-Ohio Valley has always been a very safe area to live in and raise your children and continues to be so when compared to many of the other cities and towns in our country.
Years ago to insure safety of various areas here some formed a neighborhood watch which at the time I questioned but learned to realize that the watch was a positive move.
People took the responsibility in their hands to patrol the questionable neighborhoods at the time and to report any suspicious activities etc. This added to the safety of our children and also the protection of any of the neighborhoods that may be having problems.
We as parents must teach our children to always be safe and aware of what is taking place around them.
So much negative and bad things are taking place these days that we must pay close attention to who are children associate with and are friends with etc.
How do you advise your children when it comes to safety?
You do not want to scare them but you much make them aware of there things that are taking place like the tremendous increase in the ease of obtaining drugs which many can cause death.
When I talk about safety it pertains to all age children from elementary to high school students. I realize that parents are not always available to pick up their child from school because of their work schedule or other duties. If so it is advisable to have them walk with a friend or a small group and keep away from contact with strangers that might come around asking them questions as to where they live, where they are going etc.
This could turn out to be negative and possibly harmful if they turn out to be a bad person or have bad intent.
So parents, please, please always advise your children of all ages how to deal and handle any problems or situations or emergencies that may arise.
Teach and practice safety and caution always.
Till next month.
