Letter to the Editor: Unfairly grouped
(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)
I’m writing in response to the recent letter entitled “Activists imposing beliefs on others.” This writer puts all of us who care about the environment, including the tragedy of whales ingesting plastic, as a bunch of nuts and caring more about whales than unborn babies.
He seems to group us all as atheists and with a desire to “control.” He suggests that if we don’t like modern inventions made of plastic — that we should have our computers made out of wood (and with other seemingly sarcastic suggestions). I have appreciated many letters written by this author; however, this particular one unfairly “grouped” all of us who care about the environment into one basket.
Many of us who care about the environment, including the whales, are not atheists (as he suggests), and we care about babies. It is such “grouping” (lumping those who care about a certain issue into one basket) (or throwing us all out with the wash) that creates such a cruel divide in our beautiful Country.
The media does this too. All one has to do is turn to most any of the “news” channels (on either political side) to see so much “lumping together” and unfair judging. How about we all flip off the news, stop the judging (self included), and remember how Christ walked this earth?
We all (again, self included) have lost some of this. Let’s help each other. Guide each other in a kind way. Build each other up. Stop talking unkindly about each other. Live as Jesus lived. (And, by the way, I’m Christian but I believe in climate change within reason — how do you figure?)
