Carpenter

Carol N. Carpenter, 85, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026.

Born in Austin, Texas, Carol spent much of her childhood following her father’s Air Force career, living in Hawaii, England, and California before her family settled in Morgantown, West Virginia, while he taught ROTC at West Virginia University. It was there that she met John Carpenter, the love of her life. Their marriage of over 65 years was a beautiful testament to devotion, partnership, and enduring love.

Carol was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and married John in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where they raised their family. She was actively involved in her community, serving as President of the Parkersburg Junior League and as a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Carol later enjoyed a successful career with Parkersburg Realty.

Over the years, Carol and John made their home in Charlotte, North Carolina, and later in their beloved Seabrook Island, South Carolina. She was an avid tennis player who embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She especially enjoyed fishing in the Florida Keys, creating treasured memories with family and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, John Carpenter.

She is survived by her brothers, Tony Naldrett (Bonnie) of Houston, Texas, and Gregory Naldrett of Port Antonio, Jamaica; her daughter, Kathy Nelson (Rob); her sons, John Carpenter Jr. (Alice) and Chase Carpenter (Livi); her grandchildren, Jordan Bass (Rette), Cory Nelson (Samantha), David Carpenter (Jordyn), Savannah Carpenter, Tyson Carpenter, and Faith Carpenter; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Ella and Brooks Bass, Beckett and Oakley Nelson, and Jack Carpenter.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of The Sanctuary for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Carol’s final year.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family, and her legacy of love, grace, and dedication will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply.
