Roberta “Deane” Grant

Roberta “Deane” Grant, 93, formerly of Mineral Wells, WV, died Oct. 4, 2025, in North Carolina.

She was born in Palestine, WV, on April 24, 1932, a daughter of the late James and Winona McClung.

Roberta was a pastor’s wife and dedicated homemaker who took on the task of raising three small children after the death of her husband’s first wife (Leah) as well as nurturing a child of their own. She was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Parkersburg.

She is survived by their four children, Bertram F. Grant Jr. (Dana) of Tucson, AZ, Daniel F. Grant (Doris) of Sistersville, WV, Joann Nichols (Bob, dec.) of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Darrell R. Grant (Susan) of Sammamish, WA, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Wanda Shepard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Bertram F. Grant, two sisters, Corda Thompson and Ruby Deem, four brothers, Foster, Harold, Eugene, and John McClung.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at The First Church of the Nazarene in Parkersburg, WV, with Rev. Keith Hostutler officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
