Sue (Susie) Ann Lewis

Sue (Susie) Ann Lewis
Sue (Susie) Ann Lewis, 86 (May 3, 1939) of Davisville, WV jubilantly – and at a full run – entered through the gates of Heaven on September 3, 2025.
Diagnosed with Friedreichs Ataxia in her twenties. Doctors were not hopeful that she would live to see her late 30’s but God had other plans. Sue defied every medical expectation by living far beyond her prognosis. She faced her diagnosis head-on with humor, a strong willed personality, unshakable faith while always trusting God’s plan and purpose for her life, even when it didn’t make sense. She never allowed herself or anyone else to live her illness and she never let her illness define her, the only thing that she let define her, was God.
Sue never met a stranger, she continually and without shame or reservations shared the love of Jesus living her life believing that as bad as she had it with her disease, that there were people far worse off than her. She was a prayer warrior, lifting friends, family, even total strangers up to the Lord on a daily basis leaving behind a legacy of intercession that will be felt for generations to come. Her entire life was a testament to Gods goodness and grace. Even in her final moments the light and love of Jesus shined brightly.
Sue’s devoted husband of 56 years, the late Richard Coleman Lewis, stood faithfully by her side through the many challenges she faced until God called him home in early 2017. She was his sweetheart and they have finally been reunited by that river she told him to wait by in Heaven.
Sue’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was known and loved by many, but it was her 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren that she was most proud of and that had the privilege and honor of calling her Grandma. She was without a doubt the kind of Grandma that everyone wished they had.
Sue is survived by her son Straude(Melissa) Lewis of Wagoner, OK; daughter Saebra(Michael) Pauley of Parkersburg, WV; 4 Grandchildren Jared(Ashley) Pauley of Cutler, OH; Colette(Walter) Mace of Cutler, OH; Sterling and Arielle Lewis of Wagoner, OK; 2 great grandsons Ashton and Mathan Pauley of Cutler, OH; 1 great granddaughter Macie Ann Mace of Cutler, OH; Sister Retha DiSanto, sister in law Joyce Garrett along with numerous friends.
In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents Otmer & Wava Jean (McGrew) Garrett, sister Linda Garrett, brother Donnie Garrett and 2 infant brothers.
The family would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the ladies that loved and cared for her at her home and to the entire staff at The Willows in Parkersburg WV. Thank you all for the compassionate loving care you showed Sue and her family these last 8 1/2 years and in her final days.
