Report on accident involving Parkersburg mayor released

PARKERSBURG – An accident report filed by the Parkersburg Police Department says Mayor Tom Joyce opened the door of a city-owned vehicle into traffic, and it was struck by a passing motorist on June 16. The report’s narrative said Joyce was at fault for opening his car door into traffic. No citation was issued. McCONNELSVILLE - The Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating two fatalities in traffic accidents on Saturday in Morgan County, one involving a resident from Malta. Richard M. Brooks, 48, Malta, was killed on Saturday when the 2006 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide motorcycle he was operating on State Route 266 in Windsor Township went off the right side of the road and laid over on its side, the patrol said. BARLOW TWP. – One man is dead and a woman was hospitalized after an ATV crash on Memorial Day. Carl B. Hall II, 47, of Cutler was pronounced dead at the scene after a 2020 Yamaha YFZ450 four-wheeler he was operating traveled off the left side of Barlow Township 268 and struck a tree on Monday, according to a release issued Wednesday evening by the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Jackson County Sheriff looking for burglary suspect

RIPLEY – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a female suspect who was allegedly part of a massive theft from a residence near Evans. The department is involved in an extensive burglary investigation that resulted in two warrants for Samantha Jo Carte and Emily Beth Archer, according to a post on the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page. “The two individuals entered the home when the owner was away and stole approximately $55,000 worth of numerous guns, large volumes of rare silver coins, and other valuable collectibles,” the post said. ...
