Democrats plan spaghetti dinner

VIENNA - The Wood County Democratic Executive Committee will hold a spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at the Vienna Community Building, 1301 34th St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will be an opportunity for voters to meet Wood County Democratic candidates and learn about their platforms, party Chairman Jeff Fox said. “We always want to hear thoughts from area residents about local issues, and this event will allow folks to speak with the Democratic nominees and enjoy a delicious meal!" Funds announced to support advocacy centers

Two child advocacy groups in the region were among the 22 receiving grants from the state of West Virginia. North Star Child Advocacy Center in Parkersburg received $134,031 to provide a safe, neutral setting where law enforcement and child protective service workers can observe forensic interviews of children who are alleged victims of abuse in Wood, Wirt, Ritchie, Pleasants and Calhoun counties.
