Clothing drive will help kids before the start of school

PARKERSBURG — A clothing drive is being held today at the Wood County Resiliency Center to help those in need have clothing for the upcoming school year. The City of Parkersburg, Wood County Commission, United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, and Children’s Home Society  are joining forces to support local students and families through the Community Clothing Drive from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm held at the Wood County Resiliency Center’s high bay drive-thru lane. Local students receive academic awards

Students from the region have been recognized for scholastic achievement. Logan West of Tyler Consolidated Middle School has been selected for the first Super STARS (Students Taking Action for Readiness and Success) Council at the August meeting of the West Virginia Board of Education. The statewide student advisory group will elevate student voices among education leaders and strengthen engagement in public education across West Virginia.
