PARKERSBURG -- A clothing drive is being held today at the Wood County Resiliency Center to help those in need have clothing for the upcoming school year.
The City of Parkersburg, Wood County Commission, United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, and Children's Home Society are joining forces to support local students and families through the Community Clothing Drive from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm held at the Wood County Resiliency Center's high bay drive-thru lane. The drive began on Monday.
The community-wide initiative comes right in time for back to school. They will be accepting new and used children's clothing and new with tags undergarments and socks.
"Back to school is an exciting time, but for many families, the cost of providing all the necessities a student needs can be overwhelming," said Sydney Weber, Director of the Wood County Resiliency Center.
All clothing will be donated to Children's Home Society. The United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley will serve as a community partner for the initiative and will help steward monetary donations made in support of the drive. Monetary contributions may be used to supplement donated items or help meet areas of greatest need through their programs.
Community members, businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate by donating new items or making a monetary contribution, organizers said.
The Wood County Resiliency Center is located at 328 2nd Street, Parkersburg, W.Va.
