PARKERSBURG - The Peoples Bank Foundation has donated $6,000 to the Latrobe Mission in Parkersburg to help with facility improvements, specifically the painting of the building's exterior.

Peoples Bank associates presented the donation to Michelle Bearhs, executive director of the mission, at a check presentation at the shelter.

Bearhs was appreciative of the gift.

"The appearance of a building sends a powerful message to those who walk through its doors every day. By investing in improvements to our facility's exterior, we are creating an environment that reflects dignity, hope and opportunity," Bearhs said. "When residents can take pride in the place they call home, it helps foster confidence, self-worth and a belief that positive change is possible."

Local advocate Moon King brought together additional supporters, including Chuck Hughes, CFO of Jan Dils Attorneys at Law, co-founder of the Jan Dils Foundation and operator of Hughes Properties LLC.

Hughes contributed another $2,000 to fund the project. Painter Chris Lively will lead the exterior work.

"Latrobe Mission provides support and hope for individuals facing difficult circumstances," Kevin Eagan, Peoples Bank Foundation vice president, said.

"We are proud to support an effort that not only improves the appearance of the facility but reinforces the sense of belonging that every person deserves," he said. "This project reflects the power of community partnerships and the positive impact we can have while working toward a common goal."

Latrobe Mission serves individuals experiencing homelessness by providing shelter, support services and resources that help them with greater stability and independence.

The Peoples Bank Foundation offers grant funds to 501(c)(3) organizations meeting community needs, expanding opportunities and improving access to resources in the communities served by Peoples Bank. Since its inception in 2003, the Peoples Bank Foundation has awarded more than $8 million in grants and scholarships.
