City of Parkersburg presents check to Wood County Senior Citizens Association

PARKERSBURG – The City of Parkersburg formally presented the Wood County Senior Citizens Association with $25,000 from its social services grants budget on Monday.
The money will go to support senior nutrition and transportation services throughout the community, according to a release from the city, helping residents maintain independence and their quality of life.
Mayor Tom Joyce emphasized the importance of investing in organizations that directly serve Parkersburg’s senior population.
“The Wood County Senior Citizens Association provides vital services that many residents depend on every single day,” he said. “From nutrition assistance to reliable transportation, their work helps our senior citizens remain connected, and able to live with dignity and independence.”
Kelly Goedel, executive director of the Wood County Senior Citizens Association, expressed appreciation for the city’s partnership.
“This funding helps us continue providing these services that are essential to the health, well-being and independence of the seniors we serve throughout the region,” she said.
