DAVISVILLE — Multiple departments responded to a fire in a former warehouse being renovated for a new tenant Monday morning.

People were working in and on the former Specialty Piping warehouse on South Meadville Road in Davisville when the fire was reported around 10 a.m. Members of the Blennerhassett, Deerwalk, East Wood, Lubeck and Mineral Wells volunteer fire departments responded.

The fire is believed to be the result of an electrical issue, pending investigation, said East Wood Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Wes Buckley.

“Whatever happened here was accidental,” he said.

The incident was turned over to the Wood County Fire Investigation Team, which had not announced an official cause as of Monday afternoon.

The building was being renovated for a new client coming to the Parkersburg area, said a representative of the property’s owner, Harper Land Company. He said he was grateful that no one was hurt and there was minimal damage sustained.
