PARKERSBURG — For those still looking to receive their COVID vaccines, pop-up vaccination clinics will be provided by the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department until the end of July.

Clinics will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at Spencer Park in Vienna; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the City Park Pavilion on Thursdays; and noon to 4 p.m. Fridays at the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority on Juliana Street. Appointments are not necessary.

Receiving her second vaccine shot, Parkersburg resident Mildred Harriman said she wasn’t sure of the vaccine when first announced, but said that she’s taking it as a way to get back to normal life.

“I want life to get things back to normal, I want to be doing things,” Harriman said.

According to Carrie Brainard, Health and Wellness Director at the MOVHD, clinics haven’t given out many shots, as most in the area have already received their vaccine, or don’t think they are needed.

“It’s been very slow. A couple of them had no response whatsoever. The rest of them have been one or two people with all that we’ve gotten,” Brainard said. “There’s ample vaccines out there and people want them. So I think it’s just for them, for the people that are still on the fence, still waiting to see how everyone reacts to it. Or they just don’t think that they need to get it.”

Brainard also said they can give out vaccines with local pharmacies for those that are homebound.

According to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources COVID-19 dashboard, 39.5 percent of the population are fully vaccinated (33,016/83,518).

A clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 17 at Shelter 4 at City Park during the 5K Color Run at the park.

One-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines and the Pfizer vaccine for those aged 12 to 18 will be administered.

Vaccine information is available at vaccinate.wv.gov or 1-833-734-0965. Residents 12 and older with at least one dose can register for the Do it for Babydog vaccine sweepstakes at doitforbabydog.wv.gov.
