Wetzel County woman among West Virginia COVID deaths

CHARLESTON — A Wetzel County resident was one of two deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus confirmed Monday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The department reported two more deaths from the virus on Monday, an 85-year-old woman from Wetzel County and an 87-year-old man from Greenbrier County. The deaths raise the death toll since the pandemic began in 2020 was at 6,796 residents, the state said. West Virginia’s active COVID cases rise, still below 500

CHARLESTON — Active COVID-19 cases have increased three straight days in West Virginia, according to the statistics from the state Department of Health and Human Services. The low this week was 308 active cases on Tuesday. Active cases on Friday were 437. The pandemic high during the delta variant surge was more than 21,700 in late January. CHARLESTON — Fourteen additional deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus were confirmed Thursday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Eleven of the deaths were from the ongoing data reconciliation by the state Bureau of Public Health. CHARLESTON — The life expectancy for Americans has decreased over the past two years, the first time since World War II, according to West Virginia’s COVID-19 coronavirus adviser. CHARLESTON — A Wood County resident is among the COVID-19 deaths reported on Wednesday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
