CHARLESTON — Active cases of COVID-19 were over 2,100 on Friday, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said. The state reported 2,135 cases, up 211 from 1,924 on Thursday. The state also received 611 new cases of the virus since the Thursday update. PARKERSBURG — Half a million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funds to assist nonprofits have yet to be awarded, but some in the community think the City of Parkersburg should consider increasing that amount. CHARLESTON — Another 36 people have been added to COVID-19 coronavirus death count, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported Thursday. The deaths were certified by the National Center for Health Statistics where the certification couldn’t be performed from June 6 to Tuesday because of a software update, the department reported.
