West Virginia nearing 1.6K active COVID cases

CHARLESTON — Statewide active cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus are again nearing 1,600, according to the Friday pandemic update from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The state reported 1,565 active cases statewide, up 74 from 1,491 on Thursday. The state also reported 510 new cases had been received since Thursday’s report. Active cases were in the 1,600 to 1,800 range at the end of December. West Virginia officials report 17 more COVID deaths

CHARLESTON — Seventeen additional deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 in West Virginia, pushing the total since the start of the pandemic nearly three years ago to 7,704. The deaths announced Thursday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources ranged in age from a 46-year-old Cabell County woman to a 95-year-old Fayette County man. West Virginia DHHR reports fifteen new COVID-19 deaths

CHARLESTON — Fifteen COVID-19 deaths were reported Wednesday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and statewide positive cases remained at 1,439. West Virginia officials report 11 new COVID deaths

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources on Friday reported another 11 residents have died from the COVID-19 coronavirus. The deaths were the first to be attributed to the virus in two weeks and include two residents from Wood and Jackson counties. The state also reported 344 confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations with 53 patients in an intensive care unit. Sixteen are on a ventilator. West Virginia DHHR: No new COVID-19 deaths reported

CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported no additional COVID-19 deaths within the last 24 hours leading to Thursday with the total statewide deaths remaining at 7,661. As of Thursday morning’s update, there were 1,326 active COVID cases statewide with some of the regional county numbers increasing. Wood County increased by 27 cases and now has 78 positive cases. Harpers Ferry park requires masks due to high COVID-19 level

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. (AP) — Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is again requiring visitors to wear masks if they are indoors. An update on the National Park Service’s website posted last week said guests are required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status, WBOY-TV reported. “Because the park is in an area with a high COVID-19 Community Level, masks are required in park exhibits and buildings and on park shuttle buses,” the notice said.
