CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported no additional COVID-19 deaths within the last 24 hours leading to Thursday with the total statewide deaths remaining at 7,661.
As of Thursday morning's update, there were 1,326 active COVID cases statewide with some of the regional county numbers increasing.
Wood County increased by 27 cases and now has 78 positive cases. Roane County also had a jump in cases with the county now reporting 26 cases as opposed to Wednesday's 7.
The following cases were reported in other regional counties: Calhoun (2), Doddridge (1), Jackson (11), Pleasants (5), Ritchie (5), Tyler (5), Wetzel (12) and Wirt (2).
A little over half of the 55 counties are in the yellow on the County Alert map including Wetzel, Tyler, Doddridge, Ritchie, Calhoun, Jackson and Wood.
The DHHR reported 312 statewide hospitalizations with 51 of those people in the intensive care unit and 14 people on a ventilator. Seven pediatric hospitalizations were reported with two of those people in the ICU and one on a ventilator.
