CHARLESTON -- Fifteen COVID-19 deaths were reported Wednesday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and statewide positive cases remained at 1,439.
Among the deaths were a 43-year-old male from Harrison County, a 56-year-old male from Berkeley County and a 65-year-old female from Cabell County.
"We send our sympathies to the friends and families of these individuals. Let's choose to be vaccinated and boosted for the peace of mind that comes with knowing that we have done all we can to protect our loved ones," said Dr. Jeffrey H. Coben, M.D., Interim DHHR Cabinet Secretary.
Overall, the DHHR reported a total of 7,687 COVID deaths in the state.
Wood (57), Pleasants (2), Wirt (1), Calhoun (1), Doddridge (2), Jackson (15) and Wetzel (10) counties are in the green on the county alert map and Ritchie (5), Tyler (7) and Roane (9) counties are in the yellow.
As of Wednesday morning, there are 360 statewide confirmed hospitalizations with 56 of those people in the Intensive Care Unit and 17 patients on a ventilator. Hospitalizations are down by 737 compared to the Jan. 2022 numbers.
