VIENNA — The GFWC Parkersburg Woman’s Club general meetings wrapped up in June at the Parkersburg Country Club.

Members welcomed Jack “Moon” King who sang and played guitar as he raised awareness to the plight of our Wood County homeless population. As a self proclaimed Catholic missionary and college student, King finds time to communicate with individuals to comprehend their story. He freely advocates assistance for their improved housing. Financial contributions may be sent to Parkersburg Community Foundation labeled “Moon King Fund for Humanity.”

Marie Held, PWC Scholarship Chair, announced the designation of two worthy 2025 Parkersburg High School graduates. The $3,500 scholarship recipient is McKenna Jo Greer who will attend West Virginia University to major in human nutrition and foods. The $1,550 recipient is Katelyn Ryleigh King who will attend Washington State College of Ohio to major in forensic pathology. PWC is thankful for our community generosity that provided scholarship funds through club projects.

Membership chair Patty Miser recognized ladies for their first year of volunteer services: Jennifer Allen, Kaylie Allen, Mackenzie Bango, Joyce Boso, Vickie Davis, Laura Foster, Beth Imperio, Stacy DeCicco, Annette Farenbacher, Paula Leidy, and Cathy Adkins Rauh. Susan Gardner was recognized for 10 years of membership.

Sheila Aldsworth and Linda Taylor presented a memorial tribute for two members who began their eternal journey during the year. Kathy Pollack — Sept. 28, 2024 — loved her family, teaching, and butterflies. Jenny Blair — Jan. 6, 2025 — loved family, was dedicated to teaching for 38 years, and actively supported our club and her church. The poem, “A Life Well Lived” honored them.
