CHARLESTON — A Belpre woman has received the One With Courage Award from the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network for her commitment to the Child Advocacy Center movement in the state.

Julie Nutter received the award at the One With Courage Awards Reception on Sept. 12 at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.

The One With Courage Award recognizes an individual who is a staff member of a West Virginia Child Advocacy Center and has made significant contributions to the development, continuation or enhancement of the Children’s Advocacy Center model in their community or to the movement in the state.

Nutter is the assistant director and prevention program coordinator at The Children’s Listening Place Child Advocacy Center in Parkersburg.

She has navigated a pandemic, national reaccreditation of the center and an executive leadership transition all while also managing the day-to-day operations of the Child Advocacy Center. Through her work, The Children’s Listening Place continued to serve the kids of Wood, Pleasants, Ritchie and Wirt counties and recently expand operations into Calhoun County.

More than 600 children are referred to the center to coordinate investigations of serious physical or sexual abuse, hold offenders accountable and help kids heal.

“Julie exemplifies true dedication and compassion through her work,” said Kate Flack, chief executive officer of the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network. “The Children’s Listening Place has thrived and grown with Julie’s help so that they can better serve children in their community.”

The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network provides leadership against child abuse while working side-by-side with the 21 Child Advocacy Centers and their multidisciplinary investigative teams throughout the state. The network provides training, technical assistance, leadership, legislative and policy advocacy and coordination for centers around the state.

Starting at $2.99/week.
