ELIZABETH — Westbrook Health Services has launched a new mobile unit to directly deliver behavioral health and recovery services to communities in rural West Virginia.

The unit will provide services including:

* Medication-Assisted Treatment: Telehealth appointments with providers for medication management.

* On-Site Care Coordination: Case management, peer recovery support, and nursing services.

* Therapy and Mental Health Services: Counseling sessions and mental health medication management appointments, depending on scheduling.

* Urine Drug Screening.

“Our goal for the mobile unit is to bring services to the community to meet people, quite literally, where they are,” said Hollyann Johansen, medication assisted treatment division director at Westbrook Health Services. “We recognize the need for services in rural West Virginia and this is our way to accommodate those who cannot travel for services. This mobile unit will fill a gap in services for people in rural West Virginia. One of the biggest barriers for treatment is transportation and our hope is to take this barrier away.”

The unit debuted Oct. 6 at Sportsman Park in Elizabeth in Wirt County.

Funding for the mobile unit is from a grant by the Health Resources and Services Administration to the Marshall University Research Corp. Center of Excellence for Recovery.

“We are excited to see how the community embraces this service,” said Jessica Tackett, project director of the MAT Access Grant. “We believe this mobile unit will not only improve access to recovery and mental health services, but also foster new opportunities for bringing additional resources to rural West Virginia.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
