Parkersburg crews respond to fire at vacant house

PARKERSBURG -- Fire and police departments responded to the 1300 block of Lynn Street early Thursday morning for a fire in a vacant house, authorities said.

The fire at 1333 Lynn St. remains under investigation, Fire Chief Jason Matthews said. The house was supposed to be uninhabited, but people have been staying there, he said.

A call was made to the police department shortly before 1:45 a.m. about an incident at the structure. The department arrived about two minutes later, extinguished the fire and remained on scene for about an hour, Matthews said.
