MOV Sports Hall of Fame Banquet Set for July 25

The Mid-Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for the Class of 2026.

Joining the prestigious club this summer are the following 10 individuals: Mark Allen Barnhart (Pleasants County), Scott Cozzens (Washington County), Jeff Kefalos (Wood County), Shannon Leasure (Noble County), Connor Louden (Wood County), Mark Martin (Jackson County), Larry Maxwell (Wood County), Jennifer Jones Palagi (Jackson County), John Peters (Ritchie County) and Gary Watson (Wirt County).

The annual induction banquet will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the Grand Pointe Conference and Reception Center in Vienna.

St. Marys 12th annual Wrestling Clinic

The St. Marys 12th annual wrestling clinic will be held July 8-9 from 9-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at St. Marys High School Auxiliary Gym.

The first session is for grades K-5, while the second session is for grades 6-12.

Cost is $25 per wrestler for the first session and $50 per wrestler for the second session. Registrations received by Jul 1 receive a free T-shirt.

Instructors include Pat Sole (National Wrestling Hall of Fame and former OVU/Liberty University wrestling coach; David Jeffrey Jr. (former collegiate wrestler at Lehigh and current OW Official). Jeffrey was a four-time state champion at Parkersburg South. He finished his high school career with a 210-9 record.

Instruction will cover technique in the areas of improved footwork drills, finishing shots, break downs and escapes, riding legs and tilts

MOVTA holding fundraiser at Wendy’s Restaurant

The Mid-Ohio Valley Tennis Association (MOVTA) will be holding a fundraiser at Wendy’s Restaurant on 7th Street in Parkersburg on Thursday, July 9 from 4-8 p.m.

Ten percent of all sales will go towards MOVTA programs. No flyer is necessary.

Parkersburg South hosts Lady Patriot youth basketball camp

The Lady Patriot basketball camp for all area boys and girls interested in basketball will be July 20-22 (Monday through Wednesday) at Parkersburg South High School.

The camps runs 9-10 a.m. for grades K-1 and costs $20; from 9-11:15 a.m. for grades 2-4 and costs $65; and from noon-2:15 p.m. for grades 5-8 (8th graders need to be from Blennerhassett or Edison only) and costs $65.

A discounted rate of $40 is available for each additional family member.

The camp will be conducted by South staff and players, along with guest instructors.

Drinks will be provided during the camp with food on the last day

All participants receive a camp T-shirt.
