Post 15 stays alive at state tournament

BECKLEY – Despite a five-run bottom of the seventh inning by Bridgeport Post 68, Parkersburg Post 15 managed to stave off elimination at the American Legion State Tournament on Friday morning. Behind a three-hit performance from Eli Davis and six innings of work from starting pitcher Cam Cumpston, Post 15 defeated Post 68, 9-7. BECKLEY — Marshall Derrick’s three-run homer in the second inning set the tone and Berkeley Post 14 added a five-spot in the third and never looked back in an 8-4 win over Parkersburg Post 15 to begin state tournament play Thursday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
