Baseball alumni 3-peats at 41st Pioneer Club Golf Outing

MARIETTA -- The Marietta College Baseball alumni team fired an 18-under-par to win the 41st annual Marietta College Pioneer Golf Outing last Friday at the Marietta Country Club. The win was the third straight for the baseball alums. The winning foursome finished the par-70 course in 52 strokes, two shots better than the second-place team.
The winning team included Brian Brewer ’93, Scott McVicar ’87, Logan Vietmeier ’22, and Vietmeier’s father, Gordan Vietmeier. The second-place team carded a 16-under par 54 and consisted of Karson Snyder ’21, Ross Snyder, Garrett Schiller, and Matt Murphy.
Thanks to the generous support of several sponsors, all proceeds from the annual event will go directly into the Pioneer Club fund. Special thanks go to longtime title sponsor BSN Sports. Prizes were awarded to the top two foursomes, the 17th place foursome and various hole prizes. The hole prizes were won by Tracy Blasius (closest to the pin), Kail Hill ’24 (longest drive), Rocky Roberts ’88 (closest to the pin), and Jen Tinkler ’97 (longest drive).
The 14th annual Pioneer Challenge was run in conjunction with the golf outing. The volleyball program took home the Golden Musket for the second time as the sport with the largest fundraising support. Steve Anderson was the winner of the TaylorMade Golf Clubs. Special thanks to BSN Sports for donating two pairs of Jordan golf shoes and to WMOA/WJAW radio for donating tickets to the Guardians, Pirates, Reds, Pittsburgh Zoo, and Jet Express.
A total of 28 teams, featuring 112 golfers made up the 2026 field. The Marietta College athletic department would like to thank everyone who participated and looks forward to another successful outing in 2027.
