LOST CREEK — Jackson Kerr eclipsed 200 yards rushing as Williamstown prevailed in a shootout, 54-36, over South Harrison Friday night.
The Yellowjackets improved to 3-4 and have a showdown with Doddridge County next week at home.
The Hawks have now lost four games in a row after a 4-0 start to the season.
Marietta 34, Point Pleasant 16
POINT PLEASANT — Marietta’s ground attack could not be stopped as the Tigers found the win column for the second time this season, beating Point Pleasant 34-16 Friday night.
MHS (2-7), which plays host to rival Warren to close the season next week, amassed 348 yards on 53 carries against the Big Blacks (0-7).
Getting things started, an 18-yard run by Kobe Alexander set up Will Tornes’ 19-yard touchdown run at the 7:18 mark to make it 6-0 Tigers.
After a big kick return plus a facemask put the ball at Marietta’s 25-yard line, Point Pleasant cashed in on Caden Hill’s 15-yard TD run to put the Big Blacks up 7-6 with 5:25 to go in the first.
Point Pleasant got the ball back and stalled at midfield, but a 44-yard punt pinned the Tigers at their own 1-yard line. A dropped snap resulted in a safety to put PPHS ahead 9-6.
The Big Blacks saw more good field position, but again went three-and-out and had to punt, this time for a touchback. The Tigers went 80 yards, capped by Owen Riley’s 3-yard touchdown run, to put MHS back in front 13-9, which was the score at halftime. Alexander had a 22-yard run to kickstart the drive.
The Tigers got the ball to start the third and ran right down their opponent’s throat, with Riley punching it in from 14 yards out to extend the lead to 20-9. That run put the Marietta QB over the century mark in yardage. He finished with 134 yards on 22 carries.
Riley found the end zone again from 3 yards out to make it 27-9 with 8:50 left in the game. Riley’s 17-yard pass to Tornes preceded the score.
Point Pleasant found an answer with 5:32 remaining when Hill connected with Braxton Bauer for a 26-yard TD pass. The Big Blacks were within 11 at that point, but they failed to recover an onside kick.
Marietta drained the clock from there, with Braydon Frye’s 1-yard touchdown run applying the finishing touches. The play before, Tornes took a handoff 28 yards to the 2, with only a horse-collar tackle preventing him from crossing the goal line.
Owen Warden intercepted a Hill pass on the ensuing possession to seal the deal.
Alexander added 83 yards on seven carries, Tornes chipped in 61 yards on six rushes and Frye finished with 55 yards on 12 attempts. The Tigers attempted just four passes in the game, with Riley going 2 for 4 for 23 yards.

The Bulldogs (2-6) made some noise in the final period as Austin Gear connected with Preston Smith on TD passes of 51 and 34 yards, but it was too little, too late. Gear finished 5 for 8 for 144 yards passing while Smith had 124 yards on three receptions.

Shenandoah 32, Frontier 22
NEW MATAMORAS — Frontier let a 14-0 lead slip away as visiting Shenandoah rallied for a 32-22 victory Friday night.
A pair of 5-yard touchdown runs by Aaden Bills in the second quarter put the Cougars (3-6) up two scores, but a 20-yard pick-six by Hunter Street cut it to 14-7 and gave the Zeps (5-4) some life.
With 15 seconds left before halftime, Ethan Brown connected with Ethan Cutlip on a 31-yard touchdown pass to tie it at 14-all at the break.
Frontier regained the lead in the third when Bills hit Avery Powell on a 40-yard TD strike. Powell, who then caught the two-point pass from Luke Mendenhall to make it 22-14, finished with 155 yards on seven receptions.
