Roundup: Ravenswood, Doddridge boys come out on top
SPENCER — Nick Taylor’s game-high 13 points weren’t enough for Roane County here Friday evening as Class AA, No. 6 Ravenswood extended its winning streak to four games following a 52-34 victory.
The 11-3 Red Devils, who welcome in No. 8 Poca on Tuesday, had their five starters amass all their points. Noah Dawson led the way with a dozen and added four assists. Beau Bennett, Logan Alfred, Greyson Keen and Evan Swain had 10 apiece. Keen and Swain also grabbed seven caroms each.
Shay Harper chipped in seven counters for the 5-8 Raiders, who play Thursday at Wirt County.
Clay-Battelle 83, Wood County Christian 42
WILLIAMSTOWN — Preston Luzader went off for a game-high 23 points and was one of four Clay-Battelle double figure point-producers here Friday night as the Class A, sixth-ranked Cee Bees ran past Wood County Christian, 83-42.
Colby Bass (20), JC Spears (12) and Cooper Payton (10) helped pace the CBHS (10-4) attack.
Wood County Christian, which slipped to 3-11 and plays Thursday at Elk Valley Christian, received 11 points from JJ Dimit, eight by Eli Christman and seven counters apiece from Owen Allman and Cam Coppernoll.
Federal Hocking 71, Belpre 66
STEWART, Ohio — Federal Hocking knocked down 12 of 15 from the charity stripe here Friday night as visiting Belpre converted just 3 of 7 from the free-throw line during the Golden Eagles’ 71-66 setback.
Belpre’s Junior Bass had a game-high 21 points. Derek Liston added 18 points and Blake Church tallied a baker’s dozen in the setback.
Andrew Airhart (20), Cam Joy (18) and Tariq Cottrill (17) paced the FHHS scoring attack.
Doddridge 47, Ritchie 39
WEST UNION — Brandon Hileman led all scorers with 15 points here Friday night to help give Doddridge County its fourth straight victory, a 47-39 triumph versus Ritchie County.
The 4-9 Rebels, now losers of four straight with a home game slated for Wednesday against Wahama, received 14 points from Isaac Hodges, 11 by Rhett Johnson as well as seven counters apiece from Bodhi Utter and Turner Shriver.
Doddridge County, which will look to improve to 8-3 with a home game Saturday night before playing host to Tyler Consolidated on Tuesday, also got nine markers from Landon Thomas and seven from Jerod Trent.
Paden City 59, Hundred 42
PADEN CITY — Jeremiah Thomas and Brayden Neff combined to lead Paden City past Hundred 59-42 Friday night.
Thomas scored a team-high 20 points while Thomas added 19 for the Wildcats, who led 28-23 at halftime and outscored Hundred 31-17 in the second half.
Jessup Higgins also reached double figures, scoring 10 points for PCHS.
Hundred got a game-high 22 points from Brayden Bartrug plus 12 more from Trey Huggins.
