Downtown PKB: Concert series amping up to rock Point Park

The first Point Park Concert will be held this week, Friday, June 3, for the first time in two years. We are thrilled to bring an exciting lineup of tribute bands to our community.

Concerts begin at 8 p.m. and will last until 10 p.m. at Point Park in downtown Parkersburg. If it should rain, the concert will be moved to the Parkersburg High School Auditorium. We will notify the community on our Facebook page if there is a change of location.

At our June concert, we will hear from Sounds of Summer. The show will include over 30 familiar hits and tells the story of America’s band, the Beach Boys. It has toured the country playing a variety of theaters, festivals, and concerts and performed an hour-long special on AXS TV’s “World’s Greatest Tribute Bands,” broadcast live from Hollywood, Calif.

Friday, July 1, will be the date of our second concert. HIGH NOON is the East Coast’s premier tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd & Southern Rock, exclusively performing the 70’s classic hits of Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, 38 Special and The Marshall Tucker Band.

With a deep dedication to the legacy of this timeless music, HIGH NOON brings an authenticity like no other.

Our final concert on Friday, Aug. 5, REO Survivor will entertain the audience. REO Survivor will have the audience enthusiastically singing along to anthems like REO Speedwagon’s “Take It on The Run” and Survivor’s “Eye of The Tiger.” The overwhelming crowd response confirms that REO Survivor is a “band on fire” that you won’t want to miss. It’s a heart-pumping rock experience. REO/Survivor plays nationally and internationally.

The Point Park Concert Series is a free-admission concert. The concerts would not be possible without the support of our sponsors: title sponsor Discovery World on Market; chair sponsors First Neighborhood Bank and WVU-P; and our other generous sponsors Blue Prints Foster Care, City of Parkersburg, Grogg’s Home Services, United Bank, WVU Medicine Camden Clark, CAS Cable, The Ross Foundation and WesBanco.

Many thanks to the Downtown Ambassadors for agreeing to assist us at each concert with the setup of chairs, the Belpre High School Student Council with chair teardown and to the Winterfest royalty for helping us direct concert-goers to their seats. If your school or organization would like to help with set up and tear down for the 2023 season as a fundraiser, call the Downtown PKB office at (304) 865-0522. This would be on a first-come basis.

For more information about how you can get involved with our organization’s events or projects, message us on Facebook at @downtownpkb. Reserved seating is still available for the concert series. The cost is $65 plus a fee and tax for all three concerts. To purchase a chair, go to https://tinyurl.com/bdeyvfrv.
