Letter to the Editor: Court will decide if Trump has overstepped

We hear the radical Democrats rail how President Trump is a threat to our democratic government and is a dictator for deploying federal troops to Washington, D.C., to end violent crime.

Democrats should read the U.S. Constitution, Article IV, Section 4, which asserts “The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion, and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.”

Thus, the U.S. does not have, nor has ever had a democratic form of government. In a true democracy, 51% of the population could enslave the other 49% of the population. In our republican form of government, the minority 49% of the populace have rights and protections against enslavement by 51% of the populace.

Also, the government shall protect each of the states against invasion, as President Trump and ICE has done protecting Americans against violent foreign migrant invaders, rapists, child molesters, murderers, etc.

Protection against domestic violence is what President Trump is doing in Washington, D.C., by sending in federal troops. Murder, violent robberies, rapes and carjackings are down. These are domestic violence to everyone except Democrats.

Congress can vote to order Trump to remove the National Guard troops after 90 days, or they may vote to allow Trump to extend their deployment.

President Trump has put mayors of Baltimore, Chicago, San Francisco, L.A., Detroit and other big cities on notice that he may deploy troops to their cities if they cannot solve their crime problems themselves.

Here Trump must be careful. These cities are not federal territory, as is D.C. However, Trump does have the Constitutional authority to deploy federal troops into these cities to protect federal properties such as courthouses, etc. This could deter much of the crime in these cities. Not many criminals would commit a crime in front of armed troops, who would detain them for local police.

Trump can flood these cities with ICE agents and agents of the FBI, DOJ, ATF, DHS, DEA, etc. to make arrests for gun and drug crimes.

Big city mayors are screaming Trump must be blocked by the courts. Ergo, whether Trump is over-stepping his executive authority may be decided by the Supreme Court.
