Letter to the Editor: McConnell must be booted from leadership

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

Were there one reason why the “red wave” fizzled out, except in Florida, Texas, West Virginia, etc., it was because of one man’s actions. And no, it was not because Donald Trump endorsed several losing candidates. No, it was due to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

McConnell gave RINO Liz Cheney millions in Republican funds to win her primary against Harriett Hageman, in which Cheney lost in a landslide.

McConnell wasted millions in funds backing RINO Alaskan Sen. Lisa Murkowski against her primary challenger Kelly Tshibaka. Murkowski always supported McConnell in his leadership bids, although she voted with the Democrats over 90% of the time. McConnell wants to remain Republican Senate leader, even the minority leadership.

The results of the Alaskan senate race are in limbo as I write this.

In supporting Murkowski, McConnell pulled funds from Nevada senate candidate Adam Laxalt three weeks before the election because he believed Laxalt would win. Therefore Laxalt was unable to match the Democrats’ “blitz of the airwaves” the final weeks before the election and lost to Democratic challenger Catherine Cortez Masto.

McConnell also denied funds to Blake Masters, the Arizona Republican senate candidate. Underfunded, Blake Masters ultimately lost to incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly.

Finally, McConnell refused to support Gen. Don Bolduc in his New Hampshire senate bid. In the N.H. senate primary, McConnell supported one of Bolduc’s challengers and refused to support (and fund) Bolduc when he won and was the choice of the New Hampshirians.

McConnell single-handedly pulled the financial rug out from under at least three viable senate candidates, resulting in the GOP losing control of the senate. McConnell should have supported all the Republican candidates for the good of the party and the American people. Instead, McConnell used the funds to support his own personal agenda.

McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, is the daughter of a wealthy Chinese shipbuilding magnate, with ties to the communist Chinese government. Maybe McConnell’s funding actions were because he is compromised by the Chinese government, who are pulling his strings.

McConnell has caved to the Democrats several times to pass the horrendous Build Back Broke Bill, Green New Deal funding, gun control, etc.

Thus, there are several reasons for removing McConnell as Senate Minority Leader, lest he may do the same thing just before the 2024 election.
