UP: To Ezra Delbaugh of Greenmont Elementary, Lucie Clark of Williamstown Elementary and Maggie Ice of Jackson Middle School, who qualified for the 100th National Marbles Tournament, which begins today in Wildwood, N.J. The trio qualified by winning the Wood County Marbles Club Tournament. Here in what was once known as the Marble Capital of the World, it is wonderful to see young people continuing to not only take interest in the game, but to excel at it. We wish the three students luck in New Jersey.
UP: To the six graduating physicians at this year's WVU Medicine Camden Clark Internal Medicine Residency Commencement. "The physicians graduating from our residency program spent the last three years providing medical care to our community. In addition to their clinical duties, they completed a rigorous curriculum that has prepared them to sit for the American Board of Internal Medicine exam," said Michael Cheshire, DO, Camden Clark Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program director. "We are proud of their accomplishments and are grateful they chose to complete their internal medicine training at Camden Clark Medical Center. We also extend gratitude to the faculty, staff, patients and others who supported our residents during their training." Well done, folks.
UP: To Parkersburg High School graduate Lakyn Campbell, who was crowned Miss West Virginia Teen USA earlier this month. Campbell, who achieved academic success at Parkersburg High School and is now headed to West Virginia University to continue her education, is also working on a project with West Virginia Rhododendron Girls State, where she is collecting personal care products for girls. She will bring those donations to PHS, Parkersburg South and Williamstown high schools. And, of course, she's setting her sights on the national Miss Teen USA pageant in Reno, Nevada.
