PARKERSBURG – Three Wood County youth are going to the 100th National Marbles Tournament June 19-22 in Wildwood, N.J.
Ezra Delbaugh of Greenmont Elementary, Lucie Clark of Williamstown Elementary and Maggie Ice of Jackson Middle School qualified by winning the local Wood County Marbles Club Tournament.
Delbaugh and Ice are from Vienna and Clark is from Williamstown.
They will compete against the best 7-14-year old boys and girls in the nation over the course of the four-day tournament, Coach Ryan Ice said.
Dozens of students from around the nation will try to earn one of the top eight spots for the finals on Thursday.
Ice will be returning for her second year and Delbaugh and Clark will be competing for the first time.
The three students have been playing with the Wood County Marbles Club with 20 others in Vienna for the last few years.
