Joan Crouser Showen, 89, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away on February 1, 2026. She was born on December 21, 1936, in Liverpool, WV.

Joan graduated from Spencer High School and worked at Heck’s Discount Store as a clothing manager. She and the love of her life, Harold Dane, spent 66 wonderful years together. She devoted her life to her family and her faith.

She is survived by: son, Michael Showen; daughter and son-in-law, Lesa and Tony Layner; daughter-in-law, Donna Showen; grandchildren: Eric (Heather) Showen, Chad (Heather) Showen, Jeremy (Kayla) Layner, Kayla (William) Brooks, Josh Cross, and Katrina (Josh) Stephens; great-grandchildren: Tristan Showen, Landon & Caden Stephens, Luella Cross, Jaxson & Cooper Layner, Annamoriah Showen, and Cameron & Hadley Brooks.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Showen; son Rickey Showen; parents Cecil & Betty Crouser; brother Bill Crouser & two sisters, Twila Henthorn & Wanda Rhodes.

Services will be held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home on Pike Street on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11am, followed by a graveside service at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, from 5 pm – 7 pm.
