Janet Louise Hupp Barnes, 85, of Walker, WV, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. She was born March 7, 1940, the daughter of the late Charles Hupp and Georgia Atkinson Hupp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl B. Barnes and four cherished siblings, Carolyn, Marilyn, Sherry, and Gary. Though she endured much loss in her lifetime, she remained the strong and loving heart of her family.

She is survived by her three loving children, Cindy Morehead (Tom), Rodney Barnes (Alice), Kathy Burge (Dean), seven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, fourteen great great-grandchildren, her cherished youngest sibling Michael, and several nieces and nephews.

Janet loved her family with her entire heart. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering everyone together, sharing stories, laughter, and Sunday dinners. She also had a deep love for working on her farm. Whether building fence, caring for animals, working in the garden, or just enjoying the fresh air, she found peace and purpose in the life she built there. Her strength, resilience, and work ethic were evident in all she did.

She will be remembered for her unconditional love, her hard-working spirit, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Service will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Reverend Frank Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.
