Patricia B. Ellenberger
Patricia B. Ellenberger
Patricia Barnes Ellenberger, 90, of Parkersburg, North Hills Community, passed away December 16, 2025, at her residence. She was born March 28, 1935, in Bellefonte, PA, a daughter of the late John C. and Hazel Keeler Barnes.
Pat met and married Tom in 1956, and children followed thereafter. She was trained as a secretary and bookkeeper, but was most often involved in creative pursuits.
She was an avid gardener from an early age and was proud to have served as a “founding mother” of the North Hills Garden Club as well as secretary of the West Virginia Garden Club.
Music was such an important part of her daily life. She sang in community choirs, church choirs, and could regularly be found seated at her piano. She passed that love of music to her children.
She was a fiber artist whose creations ranged from clothing to quilts, but beyond her creative interests, the greatest joys of her life were her dogs, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Surviving are her two children: John Thomas “J.T.” Ellenberger (Karen) of New Bern, NC and Holly Ellenberger of Parkersburg, two grandchildren: Lydia Claire Ellenberger (Sam Pendry) of Carpentersville, IL and Edith Hope Ellenberger of New Bern, NC along with two great- granddaughters: Violette Ellenberger and Valerie Pendry.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Raymond Ellenberger in 2013.
Memorial services will be Sunday 12:30PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana St., Parkersburg, with Reverend Annie McMillan officiating. A time of fellowship with family and friends will be one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
