James Cecil “Jim” Davis
James Cecil “Jim” Davis, 74, of Williamstown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 13, 1951, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the late Cecil and Mildred (Staley) Davis, Jim grew up in the Mid-Ohio Valley and graduated from Parkersburg High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before embarking on a dedicated 34-year career as a member of UA Local 168 Plumbers, Pipefitters & HVAC. He retired in 2015 from Carver’s Heating and Plumbing, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and skill.
Jim was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking, creating pieces that reflected his craftsmanship and attention to detail. His weekly poker games with longtime friends were a cherished tradition, filled with laughter and camaraderie. An avid collector, Jim took great pride in his collections of guns, coins, knives, and pocket watches. Known affectionately for his ornery spirit, questionable sense of humor, and role as a prankster, Jim brought light and mischief to those around him, creating memories that will endure forever.
He was united in marriage for 42 years to his beloved wife, Tina (Grogg) Davis, lovingly known as “Beaver.” Jim is survived by his devoted wife, his children, Stacie Davis, Mallorie Davis, and Grant Davis; his grandchildren, Sylas and Salys Shotwell; his siblings, Bill (Sharon) Davis and Nancy (Roger) Crowley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Kathleen (Lewis) Buckley, Carolyn (Joe) Felker, and Joe Davis; and his in-laws, Marshall, Ethel Grogg, and Michael Shotwell.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on December 18, 2025, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Tower Event and Conference Center located at 400 Tennis Center Drive in Marietta, Ohio. The family warmly invites all who knew Jim to attend, share stories, and reminisce about the impact he had on their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Parkersburg Humane Society in honor of Jim’s love for his dear pets. Jim’s spirit full of humor, Seinfeld quotes and witty text responses will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
