Emma “Jean” Pritt Mealey

Emma “Jean” Pritt Mealey, 90, of Parkersburg, went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 27, 2025, at The Willows Center in Parkersburg, surrounded by her family, along with the compassionate care of Amedysis Hospice. She was born on December 31, 1934, in Glenville, Gilmer County, WV, a daughter of the late Jess Ramon Pritt and the late Rhoda Ann Murphy Pritt. Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Roger Dale Mealey (Mindy Carpenter Selbe) of Hobe Sound, FL; a daughter, Beth Ann Mealey Riel, of Parkersburg WV; granddaughters, Kiala Nichole Riel (Josh Ninke), of Columbus, OH; Chesney McKae Anthony, of Parkersburg, WV; Amber (Scott) Schneider, of St, Clairsville, OH; bonus granddaughters, Rylee Grace Anthony and Reagan Dawn Anthony, both of Parkersburg, WV; grandson, Aric (Tina) Mealey, of Finger TN; great-granddaughter, Desiree Schneider, of Wheeling, WV; great-grandson, Cayce Schneider, of Chillicothe, OH; bonus great-granddaughter, Everleigh Grace Carpenter, of Parkersburg, WV; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard “Dick” Blair and Shirley Blair, of Alto, MI; brother-in-law, Thomas Mealey, of New Castle, DE; and special cousins, David Taylor, of Lebanon, OH, and John (Kim) Taylor, of Austin, TX. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Edwin Mealey, her sister, Anna Mae Pritt Moyers, baby niece, Garyette Ann Moyers; and special uncle and aunt, Harold and Grace Taylor. Jean was a home-maker, and spent many years babysitting for more than 30 children throughout those years. She and her husband enjoyed camping, meeting many cherished friends during their camping years. She loved her family immensely, and was happiest rocking a baby in her arms, while patting their bottoms and singing to them. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, October 30th, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV, with Elder Richard “Dick” Blair officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 at the funeral home, prior to the service. There will be no burial, as in keeping with Jean’s wishes, she will be cremated after services, with interment at a later time. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Willows Center and the staff of Amedysis Hospice, for their love and care of Jean, she loved all of you so.
