Steven Lee Cowan

Steven Lee Cowan, 56, of Washington, WV, passed away on 2 August 2025, at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV.

Steve was born on 27 November 1968, in Wood County WV, a son of the late Robert Lee Cowan and Judith Carol (Garrett) Cowan.

Steve greatly enjoyed anything to do with History, traveling and anything that went fast; cars, dirt bikes, etc., and most sports. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Steve was a 1987 graduate of Parkersburg South High School.

Steve is survived by his love of 20 years, Brenda E. Haynes of Washington, WV; his son, Shawn Michael Blair (Jennifer) of Washington, DC; his brother, Mark Wayne Cowan (Pam) of Washington WV; his sister, Dawn Colleen (Cowan) Stewart (Larry) of Ravenswood, WV; the daughter of his love, Crystal D. Apgood (Robert) of Snohomish Washington State his aunt Patsy Ruth (Cowan) Creighton of Beckley, WV; his uncle James William Garrett (Janet) of Manitowoc WI; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren; Meredith, Paxton and Grayson Apgood whom Steve called ‘his little squirrels’.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Cowan of Parkersburg, WV; his mother, Judith Carol (Garrett) Cowan of Washington, WV, his paternal grandfather, Arthur Cowan of Parkersburg, WV; his paternal grandmother, Marguerite (Parks) Cowan of Parkersburg, WV; his maternal grandfather Carroll Dean Garrett of Washington, WV; his maternal grandmother Hallie Grace (Burdette) Garrett of Washington, WV.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at the Moose Lodge, southside Parkersburg, at 1pm.
